Amber Morgan is an Australian author, screenwriter, filmmaker and multidisciplinary designer behind the Nixara’s Awakening Universe™, an interconnected fantasy world told through novels, serial fiction, screenwriting, fine art, maps, character artwork and expanded lore.

The Nixara’s Awakening Universe explores survival, power, loyalty, desire and the consequences of the choices people make when there is no easy way forward. Its stories move between quest fantasy, adult sapphic dark fantasy, speculative fiction and character-led tales connected through the same timeline, creatures, locations and world mythology.

Nixara’s Awakening: A Forbidden Quest and Where Shadows Bloom: Tamed by Instinct each offer an entry point into a different side of the universe. Nixara’s Awakening follows a fantasy quest through Skothia, built around friendship, unlikely allies, ancient secrets and forces that should never have been awakened. Where Shadows Bloom moves into darker territory within the same world, following survival, control, obsession, sapphic relationships and morally complex characters in and around the fortified stronghold of Ravenglade.

The universe continues through new books, short fiction, lore releases, collectible artwork, world maps, character designs and stories tied to its realms, creatures and histories. From the shadowed city of Morrath to the wild reaches of Ravenglade, every project adds to a world shaped by beauty, brutality, magic and consequence.

Amber holds a Bachelor of Design and a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Forensics. Her work is informed by both visual design and detailed world-building. Character portraits, maps, book covers and visual lore are developed alongside the writing process, creating a consistent visual identity across the Nixara’s Awakening Universe.

Alongside her work as an author and worldbuilder, Amber is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker. Her experimental short film, Reverie (2024), which she wrote, directed and produced, received four international awards, alongside further official selections, finalist placements, semi-finalist placements and honourable mentions.

Her short screenplay, Ember & I, won Best Short Screenplay at the New Jersey Film Awards in 2026. Her speculative drama, Baited Silence, explores the commodification of grief through subscription-based technology. The screenplay reached Semi-Finalist status at the Melbourne International Screenplay Awards and was featured in an interview with the London Independent Story Prize.

Amber’s television pilot, Where Shadows Bloom: Tamed by Instinct, is currently in development. Set in Ravenglade, the adult sapphic fantasy follows half-human hunter Alex Harkon and exiled sorceress Lady Bellara Vex through supernatural conflict, dark humour, sword fighting, dangerous creatures and morally complicated relationships.

Her work has been recognised through international film festivals, screenplay competitions and creative publications across Australia and overseas.
